Overture 41 takes Annick Ménardo's Overture Woman to a 41 per cent concentration, turning up its saffron, calvados and rose. Frankincense and cinnamon warm the opening, while a heart of rose centifolia and geranium is deepened by benzoin and re-distilled sandalwood. Vanilla, labdanum, patchouli and leather lay down a dense, ambered base that steadies the brighter notes. Rich and enveloping on the skin, it suits evenings and anyone who favours a spiced, resinous rose with real presence.
