Outlands belongs to Amouage's Essences, composed by Cécile Zarokian at a 30 per cent concentration and aged for six months with sandalwood and oakwood infusions. It opens brightly on lemon, bergamot and cardamom, edged with Sichuan pepper and frankincense, then deepens into a humid, green-tinged patchouli warmed by rose, saffron and davana. Benzoin, labdanum, amber, opoponax and vanilla settle into a resinous, balsamic finish. A layered scent of light and shade, suited to those drawn to warmth with a luminous edge.
